Our Ladies Section may be small but we give a big welcome to new members. A warm welcome is extended to players of all abilities, and whether you are a novice or a seasoned handicapper, Barnard Castle is a friendly and beautiful place to play golf.
We play qualifying competitions on a Tuesday and Trophy competitions on Sundays. Throughout the year we hold nine hole competitions to encourage those who are new to the game or who have less time to spare. There are also informal roll ups on Mondays and Fridays and Fun competitions in the winter. We have social mixed competitions throughout the year and four Mixed Trophy competitions. Our popular Ladies’ Open is held in July each year.
Friendly matches are played with other clubs in the region and in 2017 these will be Catterick, Richmond and Romanby. These matches are always very sociable and good fun. We also have an enjoyable exchange day which will be with Carlisle this year and a mixed exchange with Eaglescliffe.
Our teams in the “Handicap” Sivewright and the “Scratch” Anderson Leagues had another good year with the Sivewright team winning the South Division. Joan Smith, Maureen Swales and Linda Ward were a successful team in 2016, winning both the Durham County Vets Jean Wood Trophy and the Durham County Vine Trophy.
If you do decide to join us, we will appoint a lady member to introduce you to other members and if you are new to the game she will be able to mentor you through the game and rules etc. and take you out on the course. We host several social occasions throughout the year to give everyone an opportunity to get to know each other.
Do join us.
