Our Ladies Section may not be large, but we give a big welcome to new members. A warm welcome is extended to players of all abilities, and whether you are a novice or a seasoned handicapper, Barnard Castle is a friendly and beautiful place to play golf.
We play 18 hole qualifying competitions on Tuesdays and Trophy competitions on Sundays. On Mondays we hold 9 hole competitions to encourage those who are new to the game or who have less time to spare. There are also informal “roll ups” and, in the Winter, 9 hole Fun competitions. We have social mixed competitions throughout the year and four Mixed Trophy competitions. Our popular Ladies’ Open is held in July each year followed by the Ladies’ Invitation in August.
Friendly matches are played with other clubs in the region and in 2018 these will be Catterick, Richmond and Bedale. These matches are always very sociable, relaxed and great fun. We also have an enjoyable exchange day which will be with Hartlepool this year and a Mixed Friendly (home and away) with Knaresborough.
In 2017 our teams won the Durham County Thomlinson Bronze Competition and reached the semi-finals of the Silver Competition. We also have teams in the “Handicap” Sivewrght and the “Scratch Anderson Leagues.
If you do decide to join us, we will appoint a lady member to introduce you to other members and if you are new to the game she will be able to mentor you through the game and rules etc. and take you out on the course. We host several social occasions throughout the year to give everyone an opportunity to get to know each other.
Do join us.
