Juniors
Barnard Castle Golf Club strongly supports junior golf and has an active junior membership.
During the Summer coaching is available on most Sundays usually at 1pm with the club professional, followed by a competition.
Beginner’s are normally accompanied by an adult for advice on rules and etiquette.
For better players of 28 handicap or less on a Tuesday evening during summer there is an opportunity to represent the club in the Durham Junior Golf Southern League.
Ladies
A warm welcome is extended to players of all abilities, whether you are a novice or a seasoned handicapper, Barnard Castle is a friendly and beautiful place to play golf.
During the summer 18-hole qualifying competition are ran on Tuesdays and Trophy competitions on Sundays. On Mondays we hold 9-hole competitions to encourage those who are new to the game or who have less time to spare.
There are also informal ‘roll ups’ on Fridays and Saturdays
We have two Ladies’ Opens, one in May (Texas Scramble) and the other in July, followed by the Ladies’ Invitation in late August.
We enter teams in the Durham County Thomlinson Bronze and Silver Competition, together with teams in the Sivewright and Anderson Leagues.
Men’s
Throughout the whole year we play competition golf at Barnard Castle
From spring to winter we play qualifying competitions on a Thursday, Saturday or Sunday. During winter on Saturday and Sunday we play our winter league competitions.
On Wednesday evenings during the summer months our men’s team play in the Teesside District Union League.
Seniors
Monday is the main Seniors day where we regularly have 30 plus playing. There are informal “roll-ups” on Wednesdays and Fridays with stableford being the most popular format..
The free-spirited ethos of the Seniors means that there is a draw for partners for every game; no one knows who their playing partner will be before they attend any Seniors occasion.
We play home and away friendly matches against other clubs in the area for just the price of a post-match meal. The team-picking is designed to give all our members an equal chance to take part.
There are 2 very popular Barnard Castle Seniors’ Opens, where the Section with support from the Club turns out in force to ensure a great day out for all.
