Barnard Castle Golf Club strongly supports junior golf and has an active junior membership.
During the Summer coaching is available on most Sundays usually at 1pm with the club professional, followed by a competition.
Beginner’s are normally accompanied by an adult for advice on rules and etiquette.
For better players of 28 handicap or less on a Tuesday evening during summer there is an opportunity to represent the club in the Durham Junior Golf Southern League.
A warm welcome is extended to ladies of all abilities, whether you are a novice or a seasoned handicapper, Barnard Castle is a friendly, welcoming and beautiful place to play golf. We have an active ladies section with golf and social events running throughout the year.
During our regular season (April to November) we hold 18-hole competitions on Tuesdays and Sundays. During the winter months we hold 9 hole fun competitions on Tuesdays and a Winter stableford at weekends. During the summer we hold many mixed competitions which the ladies organise with the mens’ and senior mens’ sections.
Our annual Ladies’ Open is held in July, and is a very popular team of 4 event. We have an annual fun Ladies away day-exchange and a Ladies’ Invitation in August, where you can invite your friends or players from other clubs to play in your team. (Ladies must have a current WHI).
Along side entering national competitions such as the Annodata Matchplay knockout, we enter teams in Durham County Ladies Sivewright and Anderson Leagues. We also have annual friendly team matches with clubs from North Yorkshire.
If you would like to join us for a few taster holes or require any further information regarding Ladies golf or our social events, please contact our Lady Captain, Yvonne Carr, through the administration office.

From spring to winter we play qualifying competitions on a Thursday, Saturday or Sunday. During winter on Saturday and Sunday we play our winter league competitions.
On Wednesday evenings during the summer months our men’s team play in the Teesside District Union League.
Monday is the main Seniors day where we regularly have 30 plus playing. There are informal “roll-ups” on Wednesdays and Fridays with stableford being the most popular format..
The free-spirited ethos of the Seniors means that there is a draw for partners for every game; no one knows who their playing partner will be before they attend any Seniors occasion.
We play home and away friendly matches against other clubs in the area for just the price of a post-match meal. The team-picking is designed to give all our members an equal chance to take part.
There are 2 very popular Barnard Castle Seniors’ Opens, where the Section with support from the Club turns out in force to ensure a great day out for all.
