The Ladies Section is a growing and increasingly important part of Barnard Castle Golf Club, with three Lady members now established on the Main Management Committee.
A warm welcome is extended to players of all abilities, whether you are a novice or a seasoned handicapper, Barnard Castle is a friendly and beautiful place to play golf.
During the summer, from April to October we play 18-hole qualifying competition on Tuesdays and Trophy competitions on Sundays. On Mondays we hold 9-hole competitions to encourage those who are new to the game or who have less time to spare.
There are also informal ‘roll ups’ on Friday and Saturday, both during the summer and winter.
As winter approaches, from the end of October to the end of March, we continue with 9-hole competitions on Mondays and on Tuesdays we have fun competitions like Bisque Bogey, Waltz, Pick your Poison and Bingo, Bango, Bongo!
At the weekend we have a ‘best 4 cards’ to count competition.
We now have two Ladies’ Opens, one in May (Texas Scramble) and the other in July, followed by the Ladies’ Invitation in Late August. We have also been chosen by the County Vets to host the first ever 9-hole competition in early October.
Together with Friendly matches arranged with other clubs in the region, we also have an Exchange Day and a Mixed Friendly against Knaresbrough Golf Club. These are played early and late in the season, organised by the Ladies’ Section each year and are always very sociable, relaxed and great fun
We enter teams in the Durham County Thomlinson Bronze and Silver Competition, together with teams in the Sivewright and Anderson Leagues.
We have Ladies ready to introduce you to other members and if you are new to the game she will be able to mentor you though the game, rules and take you out on the course. We host several informal social events throughout the year to give everyone an opportunity to get to know each other.
Do join us.
